    Lakshmi Narasimha is an iconic image of Hampi. One of those images which are almost famous worldwide. Mighty statue of Lakshmi Narasimha is the largest one in Hampi.

    Lakshmi NarasimhaNarasimha is one of the incarnation of Lord Vishnu from ten Avatars. Nar means man and Simha means lion. Half man and half lion god..Narasimha.

    Ugra Narasimha is another popular name of the idol. Ugra means aggressive or angry which goes with the expressions on the face of Narasimha here.

    Originally the statue included an image of Goddess Lakshmi on the lap of Narasimha. Lakshmi is consort of Lord Vishnu. But the image of the goddess is almost damaged. One can the some portion of hand of goddess on Narasimha’s back.

    Lord Narasimha is seated in yoga position on the coil of Sheshnag. Seven heads of Sheshnag are acting as an shelter for the god. A fine arch completes the statue’s beauty.
