    Majalgaon Dam - Beed

After a drive in hot region of Marathwada among cotton fields, Majalgaon Dam comes as a pleasant surprise. An earthfill dam on the Sindphana River is placed right near Majalgaon town in Beed district of Maharashtra.

Majalgaon dam is an important component of the Jayakwadi Project Stage II. Sindphana river, originated in Chincholi of Patoda, is a major tributary of the Godavari river and popularly known as Dakshin Ganga. The dam is constructed across the river post approval by the government of Maharashtra in 1976.

Gated concrete spillways of this dam are attractive. One can stop and enjoy the water flowing from spillways and the water pond in front of it.

The Dam is a good place for a stop on the way for an hour or so. There are no restaurants around.
