Deities of Aundha Nagnath.. isn’t it a nice subject. 13th century Chalukyan temple of Aundha Nagnath presents puranas, the mythology of India, the hinduism.
Various forms of Lord Shiva, forms of Lord Vishnu, forms of Devi Shakti, Matrikas, Lord Ganesha and so on. Ornamented on the walls of the Aundha Nagnath temple, the sculptures of deities of Hindus are presented beautifully. Lord Brahma, Indra Deva and many other gods and goddesses are the protectors of the temple . Stories from the puranas, Ramayana and Mahabharata are depicted in details.
I would like to make special mention of the relief which presents 3 major forms of Lord Vishnu. In the middle, Lord Vishnu is in his Vishvarupa.. the universal forms, bearing various weapons in his many many hands. On the left side, Lord Vishnu is in his Hayagriva form; Haya means Horse and griva means neck (face in literal meaning). Horse headed Lord Vishnu is a great opportunity to learn more about Lord Vishnu’s avataras apart from the famous Dashavatara (ten incarnations). On the right side, Lord Vishnu is in the form of Chakra-Gadha Dhari.
