Ajmer Sharif is the maqbara of sufi saint Moinuddin Chishti also known as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz, the benefactor of poors. Located in the heart of Ajmer city of Rajasthan, the dargah is world famous with many other names like Dargah Sharif, Ajmer Dargah and Khwaja Gharib Nawaz Dargah.
Buland Darwaza is the grand entrance of the dargah which opens in a crowded market. The gate was built by Sultan Mahmood Khilji. Buland Darwaza hoist the urs flag.
Amazing smell of roses and other flowers, dhoop & lobans, musical qawwali in the background make the atmosphere enchanting. It surely reminds you the song by A. R. Rehman from a bollywood movie.. Khwaja mere Khwaja… ख्वाजा मेरे ख्वाजा…!
Ajmer Sharif dargah has been popular among the celebrities along with common people and became one of the main attraction of Ajmer. It represents a great example of multi-religion union. Though there are many stories around Moinuddin Chisti and his work, the main story still alive i.e. a story of faith and peace.
One has to cover his head either with Islamic cap or handkerchief (which I used). The dargah is open for all religions and for all humans.
One should visit the dargah for spiritual experience and for live qawwali which keep going almost 24 X 7.
